Canada Start works in cooperation with Network Canada and Zaifman Associates. Established in 2004, Canada Start focuses on providing quality post-landing services for those relocating to Canada. Canada Start also assist business applicants from overseas interested in exploring Manitoba's investment opportunities.

Biographies

Kenneth Zaifman is the founder and President of Network Canada. Network Canada was established in 1988 to recruit foreign workers to Canada. Mr. Zaifman is a lawyer who has assisted individuals and businesses with their immigration matters for over 25 years. He practices exclusively in the area of Canadian Immigration law and acts as immigration counsel for Canadian based companies and international corporations.

Mr. Zaifman has undertaken foreign recruitment initiatives on behalf of Canadian companies. He has organized seminars recruiting and testing for both skilled and semi-skilled occupations.

Mr. Zaifman has been a member of the Law Society of Manitoba since June 1976. He has served as a Chairman, Manitoba Bar Association; Immigration Law Section. He has also served as Chair of the Canadian Bar Association, Immigration Law Section and Chair of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Canada Chapter. Mr. Zaifman is a member of the International Bar Association, the Inter-Pacific Bar Association and the International Commission of Jurists. He is a member of the Premier of Manitoba, Economic Advisory Committee. He has been an author and frequent lecturer on topics related to business and skilled worker immigration at conferences and seminars in Canada, the United States, Europe, South America and Asia.

Mira Thow was admitted to the Manitoba Bar in 1981. She received a Master of Laws degree specializing in International Commercial Law from New York University School of Law in 1984. Ms. Thow is a member of the Manitoba Bar Association, Immigration Section. She is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Immigration Subsection.
Ms. Thow has lectured and delivered papers on immigration law at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law, the Canadian Bar Association National Legal Education program, the Law Society of British Columbia and the Minnesota Institute of Legal Education. Ms. Thow has developed a specialty in immigration appeals and has argued precedent setting cases in the Canadian Federal Court

Baerbel Langner received a B.A. from the University of Winnipeg in 1989, and graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba in 1992. She was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1993, and has been a lawyer with Zaifman Associates practising exclusively in the field of immigration law since 1997.
Ms. Langner is presently the chair of the Manitoba CBA. Immigration Law Section, and the Manitoba Branch Section Chair of the National CBA Citizenship and Immigration Law Section. She has been a guest lecturer on immigration law at the University of Manitoba, and at the Law Society of Manitoba's Continuing Legal Education Programs.

Patricia Maia received her Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Arts Degrees from the University of Manitoba. She graduated from Dalhousie University with a Law Degree in 1998. After articling, Ms Maia was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1999. Ms Maia is presently a lawyer at Zaifman Associates primarily practicing immigration law. She is a member of the Manitoba Bar Association, Immigration Subsection.

Carolina Fridman graduated with a Law Degree from the University of Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In June 1993, Ms.Fridman was admitted to practice law by the Law Society of Buenos Aires. Her practice was devoted to Commercial and Corporate law. In October 1998, she joined Network Canada as a Consultant, managing the processing of immigration files under the Federal and Provincial Selection Criteria. Ms. Fridman prepared and conducted successful seminars "How to immigrate to Canada" in South America. She is currently a member in good standing of the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants.
